Skin Booster: Hydration, Repair & Collagen Support—Chosen for Your Skin
A skin booster should not be selected by trend alone. At BAC (Bangkok Aesthetic Clinic), the choice begins with your main concern—dehydration, rough texture, fine lines, enlarged-looking pores, early laxity or acne-scar texture—and then matches that concern with the most appropriate injectable category.
What is a skin booster?
“Skin booster” is a broad aesthetic term, not one single standardized drug class. It commonly describes injectable treatments designed primarily to improve skin quality—such as hydration, texture, elasticity and the appearance of fine lines—rather than to create the larger structural changes associated with conventional contouring fillers.
The products grouped under this name can be very different. Some are based on hyaluronic acid; others use polynucleotides, collagen-supporting particles or recombinant collagen components. They are not automatically interchangeable, and no single option is “best” for every face.
“Better skin” is not one clinical target
Skin quality reflects several layers and functions. BAC separates them before recommending a Program Karisma Rh Collagen, Rejuran, Juvelook, Profhilo or another option.
Hydration
Dry, crepey-looking skin may need water-binding support, but dryness caused by an impaired barrier also requires appropriate skincare.
Texture & pores
Roughness and enlarged-looking pores may improve as skin quality changes, although oiliness, acne and scar architecture often need separate treatment.
Elasticity & firmness
Early loss of firmness may suit a remodeling or collagen-supporting strategy. Advanced laxity is unlikely to be corrected by a skin booster alone.
Fine lines
Fine, dehydration-related lines behave differently from expression lines or folds caused by volume loss, so the treatment category matters.
Repair support
PN-based products are often considered when the objective is gradual skin-repair support rather than immediate contour or volume.
Scar structure
Rolling, boxcar and ice-pick acne scars are structural conditions. Injectables may be adjuncts, while subcision, RF microneedling or TCA CROSS may address the architecture more directly.
Four programs, four different mechanisms
The following descriptions explain how the categories differ. Availability, treatment area, dose, injection depth and protocol must be confirmed during consultation.
Program Karisma Rh Collagen FACE
Recombinant collagen–based bio-restitutive injectableFor texture, fine lines and gradual support of skin firmness
Program Karisma Rh Collagen FACE combines a recombinant polypeptide corresponding to the alpha-1 chain of type I collagen with high-molecular-weight, non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC). The manufacturer classifies it as a bio-restitutive soft filler. In practice, the treatment is selected for skin-quality goals rather than for major cheek, chin or lip reshaping.
“Recombinant” means the collagen-related component is made with bioengineering technology; it is not collagen harvested from a human donor. Its role, the HA component and the CMC carrier are intended to work together within a gradual regenerative strategy.
A 2024 clinical study followed 100 participants after two 2 mL treatments one month apart and reported improvements in measured skin roughness and patient-reported skin quality at short follow-up. This is encouraging but was not a randomized head-to-head trial, and the follow-up was limited. It does not prove that Program Karisma is superior to every other booster or guarantee the same result for each patient.
Program Rejuran
Polynucleotide (PN) skin-quality programFor gradual repair support, texture and selected scar concerns
Program Rejuran is based on purified polynucleotides (PN). PN and PDRN are related terms but should not be treated as automatically identical; the exact product and formulation matter. BAC may choose among Program Rejuran Healer, S, I or HB Plus according to treatment area, tissue characteristics and the main clinical goal.
It is generally chosen to support progressive improvement in skin texture, elasticity and overall quality. For acne scars, Program Rejuran may support a combined plan, but it does not mechanically release tethered rolling scars or close deep ice-pick scars by itself.
A systematic review found encouraging changes in wrinkles, texture and elasticity, with mostly mild, temporary side effects. However, it included only nine studies and 219 patients, and rated the available evidence as low to moderate quality. BAC therefore avoids presenting PN as a guaranteed solution or a replacement for every scar procedure.

Program Juvelook
PDLLA + non-crosslinked HA hybridFor hydration plus a gradual collagen-supporting response
Program Juvelook combines poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA) particles with non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid. The HA component supports early hydration, while the PDLLA component is used for a slower collagen-supporting effect. This timing is different from a conventional filler that is selected mainly to create immediate structural volume.
Careful dilution, preparation, injection plane and aftercare are important. The program may be considered for fine textural concerns and selected atrophic acne-scar plans, but the doctor must first identify scar type. Deep, tethered or narrow scars may require subcision, RF microneedling, TCA CROSS or a staged combination instead.
Published studies of injectable PDLLA/HA report potential skin-rejuvenation benefits, but outcomes depend on product preparation and placement. As with other particle-based biostimulators, delayed lumps or nodules are possible complications and should be discussed before treatment.
Program Profhilo
Hybrid hyaluronic-acid bioremodeling programFor diffuse hydration and early skin laxity
Program Profhilo uses thermally stabilized hybrid cooperative complexes of high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid. The commonly used 2 mL presentation contains 64 mg of HA. It spreads through tissue differently from a conventional contouring filler and is selected primarily for hydration, elasticity and bioremodeling goals.
A limited-point technique is often used in suitable facial areas, but injection sites must be adapted to anatomy, product instructions and the doctor’s assessment. It may help mild, early laxity look better; it is not a surgical lift and will not replace volume when structural deficiency is the main problem.
Program Profhilo is used as a bioremodeling injectable rather than a conventional volumizing filler. The realistic goal is a subtle change in hydration and tissue quality. Marked jowling, deep folds or skeletal volume loss usually require a different discussion.
Where does Program Belotero Revive fit?
Program Belotero Revive combines hyaluronic acid with glycerol and may be considered when the priority is skin hydration, roughness and fine-line quality. It is not automatically better or worse than the four programs above; it occupies a different place in the treatment menu. BAC will assess whether HA/glycerol, hybrid HA, PN, PDLLA/HA or the recombinant-collagen pathway is the closer fit.
Which skin booster may match which goal?
This table is an educational starting point, not a prescription. More than one concern may be present at the same time.
| Program | Main material | Often considered for | Not designed to do alone | Typical treatment character |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Program Karisma Rh Collagen | Rh collagen alpha-1 polypeptide + HMW HA + CMC | Texture, fine lines, early firmness concerns | Major facial contouring or correction of advanced laxity | Gradual bio-restitutive skin-quality strategy |
| Program Rejuran | Polynucleotides; formulation varies by product | Repair support, texture, fine lines, selected scar plans | Release tethered scars or replace structural filler | Multiple micro-injections; progressive response |
| Program Juvelook | PDLLA particles + non-crosslinked HA | Hydration with gradual collagen support; selected texture/scars | Act as an instant high-volume contouring filler | Early HA effect plus slower PDLLA response |
| Program Profhilo | Hybrid high- and low-molecular-weight HA complexes | Diffuse dehydration, crepey skin, early laxity | Replace a facelift or correct focal volume loss | Limited-point bioremodeling approach when suitable |
| Program Belotero Revive | HA + glycerol | Hydration, roughness and fine-line quality | Treat structural scars or significant sagging alone | Hydration-focused skin-quality injectable |
HMW HA = high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid; CMC = carboxymethylcellulose; PN = polynucleotides; PDLLA = poly-D,L-lactic acid. Product availability and indications can change.
Your skin goal should lead the decision
BAC reviews skin condition, facial anatomy, previous procedures, timeline, tolerance for downtime, medical history and budget before recommending a product or combination.
Consider the Rh-collagen pathway
Program Karisma Rh Collagen may be discussed when the focus is gradual improvement in roughness, fine lines and early firmness without major contour change.
Consider the polynucleotide pathway
Program Rejuran may be considered for progressive skin-quality support, delicate areas or as one part of a broader acne-scar plan.
Consider the PDLLA/HA pathway
Program Juvelook may fit selected texture, pore or atrophic-scar goals after assessment of scar type and risk.
Consider the hybrid-HA pathway
Program Profhilo may be discussed when the concern is broader dehydration, crepiness or early laxity rather than focal filling.
From consultation to follow-up
A suitable plan may be performed on the same day after consultation, but treatment is never automatic.
Assessment
The doctor reviews your goals, anatomy, skin condition, allergies, medication, previous injectables and relevant medical history.
Selection
The product, treatment area, volume, injection depth and number of sessions are selected for the individual—not copied from a generic package.
Preparation
The skin is cleansed and photographed when appropriate. Topical anaesthetic may be applied if suitable for the chosen treatment.
Injection
Technique may involve micro-droplets, selected points or another product-specific pattern. Raised points can be expected with some methods.
Aftercare
You receive instructions tailored to the product. A follow-up or next session is planned according to response rather than a promise of fixed results.
“Minimal downtime” does not mean zero risk
Temporary injection reactions are common. Serious complications are uncommon but possible with any injectable procedure, which is why appropriate assessment, anatomy knowledge and follow-up matter.
What may happen after treatment
- Small raised injection points or bumps for several hours and sometimes longer
- Redness, warmth, tenderness, itching or mild swelling
- Bruising that can remain visible for several days
- Temporary asymmetry while swelling settles
- Less commonly: infection, persistent lumps, inflammatory reaction or vascular injury
Tell the clinic before booking if you
- Are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding
- Have an active infection, inflamed acne, cold sore or open wound in the area
- Have significant allergies, including reactions to injectable products or their components
- Have an autoimmune condition, bleeding disorder or impaired wound healing
- Take anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs, supplements or medicines that affect bruising
- Have had recent fillers, threads, lasers, surgery or another procedure in the same area
General aftercare
- Keep the area clean and avoid pressing, rubbing or massaging it unless the doctor specifically instructs you to do so.
- Avoid makeup over fresh injection sites until the time advised by the clinic; when possible, wait until the next day.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, sauna, steam rooms, very hot showers and heavy alcohol intake for about 24–48 hours or as directed.
- Delay facials, facial massage and unplanned energy-based procedures until the treated area has settled and BAC confirms suitable timing.
- Use broad-spectrum sunscreen and follow the individualized skincare instructions provided after treatment.
- Do not stop prescribed blood-thinning medicine without permission from the clinician who prescribed it.
Contact the clinic promptly for worsening pain, spreading redness, pus, fever, marked or increasing swelling, skin blanching or a net-like dusky discoloration. Sudden visual disturbance, severe eye pain, weakness, speech difficulty or other neurological symptoms require emergency care immediately.
